Hay Hay Bakery
FINCH loved collaborating on this new neighbourhood concept for Hay Hay Bakery. A proudly local bakery with a big heart and a small footprint. While our studio is known for delivering large-scale commercial environments, it’s these cool, quirky, community-driven micro-projects that really make us tick.
With concepts like Hay Hay, there’s nowhere to hide. Every decision is visible, and every design move from the flow of the counter to the warmth of the lighting is amplified. The result is a space that’s as honest and handcrafted as the products it serves.
Hay Hay Bakery is more than just a bakery. It’s the heart of its neighbourhood. A place where daily rituals, real connections, and fresh pastries come together under one roof. The brand ethos is rooted in care, craft and community, and we wanted the design to reflect exactly that.
The space uses a tight colour palette of warm terracotta reds and soft natural timber, paired with terrazzo flooring for a nostalgic but elevated finish. Bespoke timber display islands wrap pastries like gallery pieces, while a playful neon ‘croissant’ piece inspired by the logo and soft-edge signage brings character and brand storytelling to life. Open kitchen views and exposed services give a raw, unpretentious edge, reminding guests that everything here is made fresh, and made by hand.
Compact in scale but bold in identity, Hay Hay Bakery proves that small spaces can have big impact. For FINCH, it was an opportunity to flex our love of neighbourhood design where every millimetre matters and every interaction counts.
Designed for its people, by its kind of people, Hay Hay is built around belonging. And that’s exactly the kind of story we love to tell.
